Nadia and Lili Boulanger International Voice-Piano Competition

TO FAVOUR CAREERS
Founded in 2001, the biennial Nadia and Lili Boulanger International Voice-Piano Competition seeks to help young singers and young pianists who have completed their studies or who are at the beginning of their career. The top-level candidates, under the age of 32, have certified diplomas and are recommended by letters by internationally renowned prominent musicians (download the regulations).

TO PROMOTE THE SINGERS AND THE PIANISTS
Giving their chance to singers as much as to pianists who accompany them is one of the characteristics of this competition. Nadia and Lili Boulanger International Voice-Piano Competition contributes to the current increasing recognition of the accompanying piano as a profession.

All stages of the competition are open to the public and will take place at the famous concert hall of the “Ancien Conservatoire”, now Conservatoire national supérieur d’Art dramatique in Paris. The concert hall’s acoustic, aesthetic quality and reputation give the candidates the opportunity to be heard in the best conditions by a large public.
Moreover, the presence of a prestigious jury enhances the candidates’ chances to be appreciated by professionals who will promote their career.

Three distinct prizes are offered:
Singing Prize of 8 000 €
Piano Prize of 8 000 €
Duet Prize of 8 000 €

A stepping stone towards the professional life, the Nadia and Lili Boulanger International Voice-Piano Competition invites the winners, the year following their prize, to give a recital in a famous concert hall in Paris, a partnership set with several musical seasons.

TO PROMOTE A REPERTORY
Candidates are to present a musical repertory including notably an extract of a Cantata or an Oratorio by J.-S. Bach (download the list established for each vocal categories), the imposed work for the first round, songs by G. Fauré, L. Boulanger, N. Boulanger, lieder by J. Brahms, R. Schumann, W.A. Mozart, J. Haydn, L. van Beethoven and a song specially commissioned for the competition (download the regulations).

These choices remain faithful to Nadia Boulanger’s musical aesthetic and perpetuate the tradition of her teaching, which had an international influence still appreciable today.
